Brotherhood of Evil Mutants
The Brotherhood of Evil Mutants is a group of superhuman mutants dedicated to the cause of mutant superiority over humans. The first version of the Brotherhood was led by Magneto and initiated an attack upon humans which was thwarted by the X-Men. The Brotherhood would eventually be resurrected by the mutant Mystique. They gained the trust and support of the United States Government and became Freedom Force until an unsuccessful mission to retrieve nuclear physicist Harvey Kurtzman. Toad, one of the original members, would then reform the Brotherhood, though this team would disband after a violent run-in with X-Force. The latest incarnation was created by Havok who decided Xavier's dream was futile. This was actually a ruse put on by Havok in order to take out the Dark Beast.

Magento gathered his Brotherhood aboard Asteroid M and released a meteor that would crash into Earth, decimating it on impact and making it a lifeless dustball. Magneto intended for them to conquer a planet and take it over as their own, possible one of the Kree worlds, but his plans strayed when he learned that someone had taken out the Sentinels on Earth. He returned to offer those who had defeated their mechanical oppressors a place at his side, but he and some of his Brotherhood were defeated and killed by Hyperion. The surviving members would join with Hyperion until he proved unable to stop the asteroid. No longer useful to him, Hyperion and Weapon X lay waste to the remaining mutants in order to complete their mission and move on.
