Vindicator's superhuman abilities stem solely from a steel-mesh battlesuit. The suit amplified her natural strength, formed a protective force field at a distance of about three inches from her armor, and allowed her to fly at a maximum speed of up to Mach 1. She could and also shoot beams of concussive force from her gauntlets with a force equivalent to 250 pounds of TNT.

This Vindicator should not be confused with the Exile Heather McDaniel Hudson who also married the James MacDonald Hudson in her own timeline.

In our reality, Heather Hudson fell in love with James MacDonald Hudson while working as a secretary. James went on to lead Alpha Flight as the Guardian until the time of his death, when Heather donned his costume and took on the codename Vindicator. Since then, James has been through two deaths and resurrectection causing the couple to separate, though they are both still members of Alpha Flight.

Because Wolverine never left causing James to meet his death while leading Alpha Flight, Heather never took on the role of Vindicator and instead serves as Alpha Flight's Lieutenant Field Commander and Head of Science. However, another woman did assume possession of the armor and the role of Vindicator.
