In our reality, Moira Mactaggert was a brilliant student of the biological sciences with genetics as her specialty. At one point, she was engaged to Charles Xavier, but broke off their engagement without explanation. She left for Scotland and took Rahne Sinclair as her ward. Moira was the first human to contract the Legacy Virus and her research of the virus before her death made a cure by Beast possible.

The X-Men's resident doctor who knew all the right things to say to keep hope up and a brilliant scientist with tunnel vision who became super-focused on only one thing at a time. She was charged with finding a cure for Plague who had absorbed the Legacy Virus, but she wasn't able to help him for a while. Her mind eventually wandered, moving on to the next problem and Plague was forgotten.
