In this reality, the Phoenix Force was Jean Grey and not a clone. The Shi'ar Empire wanted to kill the Jean Grey to prevent the possibility that the Phoenix Force might destroy the Universe. However, the X-Men objected to this and defended their friend Jean Grey, the bearer of the Phoenix Force, in the Trial of Phoenix.
The Exiles were sent to make sure that Jean Grey dies to ensure that the Dark Phoenix never awakens to go on a rampage that starts with the destruction of Earth and the swallowing of the Sun. The Imperial Guard was joinged by the Exiles and together they fought against the X-Men in the Trial, but were unable to prevent Jean Grey from becoming the Dark Phoenix. Colossus is the first X-Man to die and the teams begins to realize that Jean was really gone after she killed her lover Cyclops.
The Dark Phoenix then killed Storm, proceeding to rid hersef of those closest to Jean, the dark side of her realizing that they might be able to reach her. She was then confronted by Mimic who attempted to combat her by mimicking her power. Sensing this, she stopped increasing her power which possibly gave the Exiles and the remaining X-Men the edge they needed to defeat her.
In the end, it was the combined efforts of Blink, Wolverine, and the Angel that would bring down the Dark Phoenix. The Angel grabbed Wolverine and gained as much height as possible before diving and gaining maximum velocity at which point Blink teleported the duo behind the Dark Phoenix at which point Wolverine stabbed Dark Phoenix through the chest. The resulting fiery, backlash of power impacted both Wolverine and the Angel, apparently taking their lives as well.

After Wolverine refused an offer from her that would have repaired his body and made him physically whole again, she leaves the X-Men for some time before rejoining them.
